Becoming a Catholic No one is born Catholic. An unbaptized person may wish to explore becoming a Catholic. Every fall, a group of adults gather to begin that process. They meet regularly with lay leaders and a priest. Inquirers are always welcome to join in the process with other inquirers who meet on a regular basis with a team of parishioners/staff. When inquirers make the decision to begin preparation for baptism they enter the Catechumenate Process which moves in stages and steps toward Lent and the Easter Vigil when Baptism is celebrated. A period of reflection and discussion follows from Easter to Pentecost. Someone baptized in a Christian Church (including Catholic) may now wish to be received into full communion in the Catholic Church by receiving the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. These candidates join a group similar to the Catechumenate and receive instruction, guidance and support for their faith journey. Reception into full communion usually takes place at the Easter Vigil but can be at other times based on a candidate's readiness. Baptized Catholics who have received their First Communion but not Confirmation or other fully initiated Catholics who feel in need of essential religious formation may register for Adult Faith Formation sessions held throughout the year and for special classes for adult confirmation.
