Girls and Boys Town, the original Father Flanagan's Boys' Home, is a leader in the treatment and care of abused, abandoned and neglected girls and boys. Throughout its 88-year history, the nonprofit, nonsectarian organization has provided these children with a safe, caring, loving environment where they gain confidence to get better and learn skills to become productive citizens.

Pine Street Inn
Pine Street Inn is a not-for-profit organization committed to men, women and children in need of shelter, sustenance, and the basic moral and material supports necessary to lead a dignified and stable life. It is the mission of the inn, in all its programs, to be a community of respect and hope for each guest it serves; to be a resource through which neighbors and friends can help to meet the basic needs of others; and to serve as a national leader in the fight to end homelessness. Each night, there are 6,210 homeless men, women and children in the City of Boston, a 48 percent increase in homelessness over the past decade. Many of these homeless people turn to Pine Street Inn for help.

The Catholic Appeal
Once a year, through the Catholic Appeal, the Church asks us to provide the necessary resources that allow us to serve the people of the Boston Archdiocese. The Appeal funds the services, ministries, programs, agencies and apostolates that meet critical spiritual, educational and social-service needs.

Pregnancy Help
Pregnancy Help provids free pregnancy testing, counseling, referrals, ongoing support and material assistance to women with unplanned or crisis pregnancies. Pregnancy Help is supported through the Archdiocesan Annual Appeal and the generosity of volunteers and benefactors. The new Metro-West office is located at 5 Wilson Street in Natick and can be contacted at 508-651-0753 or toll free at 888-771-3914. The Natick office is open Monday and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"Common Ground's mission is to provide short term relief for victims of hurricane disasters in the gulf coast region, and long term support in rebuilding the communities affected in the New Orleans area. Common Ground is a community-initiated volunteer organization offering assistance, mutual aid and support. The work gives hope to communities by working with them, providing for their immediate needs and emphasizes people working together to rebuild their lives in sustainable ways." The parishioner who submitted this organization believes it is one of the best charities helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
