Safe Environment Committee Member

Duties and Responsibilities

·

Assist pastor and staff with facilitating and monitoring the implementation of the St. Zepherin Parish Safe Environment Policies and Procedures (SEPP).

·

Read and become familiar with the contents of SEPP.

·

Support ministry chairpersons in implementing SEPP as part of their ministry.

·

Aid parishioners in understanding the content and purpose of SEPP.

·

Collaborate with Child Abuse Protection (CAP) team members.

·

Participate in annual review of SEPP.

·

Accept responsibility to report abuse in accordance with defined directives.

·

Attend scheduled committee meetings.

Time Commitment

3 hours per month

Length of Commitment

1 year; up to 3 years

Training

·

Participate in Protecting God's Children training program.

·

Receive briefing from experienced member.

·

(Prerequisites) Person of faith who appreciates the teachings and mission of the Church; committed to preventing abuse; committed to maintaining confidentiality in parish matters; 18 years of age or older.

·

(Desirable) Strong people skills; dependable; attentive to details; comfortable working with groups; flexible; team player.
