- Cluster weeks:
Eucharistic Ministers who are in cluster and serving as Eucharistic Ministers will check their name off before cluster meeting begins. Clipboard is in center. Coordinator needs to know if she/he needs to replace someone who does not arrive in a timely manner.
Check to see if liturgy coordinator is present and has completed all assigned tasks.
Help in getting cross and candle bearers. When there is a children’s liturgy, candle bearers will be assigned from a cluster.
- Try to encourage new people to become involved in some of these tasks. Walk them through the procedure if necessary.
- Be sure all is ready for the start of the liturgy.
PROCEDURE FOR THE COMMUNION RITE
- The Eucharistic Coordinator should sit near the Tabernacle for Mass. At the sign of peace she/he should go immediately to Tabernacle and get the Ciborium and place on altar. Get tray from back table, put pewter dishes on altar and begin to pour wine into small cups. Return to back table the empty wine decanter, water cruet and small glass bowl if it is still on altar. Stand back and wait for priest to take his own communion.
- When the presider begins to distribute the pewter dishes with Hosts, distribute the wine cups.
- After the congregations has received communion, all ministers return to the altar and place pewter dishes on altar table. Eucharistic coordinator should put any left over wine into one cup and place it on the altar table. Coordinator then stands back and presider will give him/her the Eucharist followed by the wine. Presider will then distribute the Eucharist to the remaining ministers and coordinator will follow and distribute the wine. Eucharistic Ministers then leave altar when last has received sacrament. Eucharistic Coordinator then places any dishes left on altar to back table and returns the Ciborium to the Tabernacle.
