CHECKLIST FOR EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to start of Mass.
- If you have not arrived by 10 minutes before Mass, the Eucharistic Coordinator may have obtained a replacement for you. Please respect this. It is difficult for the coordinator to be trying to get last minute replacements.
All Eucharistic Ministers should check in with coordinator whether assigned or not in case replacements are necessary.
When checking in, please let the coordinator know which side of the altar you will sit. In this way, you will be assigned to either Bread or Wine on the side of the altar where your pew is located. You may be asked to sit on one side or the other. There should be 2 Wine bearers and 1 cup bearer standing on the Tabernacle side of the altar and the same on the organ side of the altar.
- At the sign of peace you should immediately proceed to the altar. Wine bearers will take a purificator. Wait until all Eucharistic Ministers have received either a pewter dish or a wine cup and then move off the altar 3 to the left and 3 to the right. Take positions as marked by tape on the floor.
- Communion is then distributed. If you finish at your station and note that there is still a large number of people at another station, move over to help out. When all are finished, return to the altar. Place pewter dishes on altar and wine cups on tray on table. Resume your original position and await Communion. The Eucharistic Coordinator will receive Communion first and will follow the presider with the wine cup after the Host is given to each Eucharistic Minister. When all are served, leave altar and return to your pew.
