Music
Music at St. Zepherin is in response to a challenge set forth in the Second Vatican Council. Community singing and increased participation at Mass are the goals. Our music reflects the needs of each celebration. Some of the world's most beautiful music has been composed for the Catholic Church. We try to include the finest examples from the ancient, classical, and contemporary composers who have framed and developed the liturgical music that makes up the Catholic tradition.
While ordinary responses and songs like "The Our Father" are the same for all Masses, music is chosen to meet each group's special worship needs as follows:
A Children's Choir sings on special occasions. Rehearsals for this choir will resume in September.
The Traditional Choir sings at the 11:00 AM Mass. Rehearsals for this choir will resume in September.
The Contemporary Ensemble, a group of singers and instrumentalists, provides music at the 6:00 PM Youth Mass and rehearses before the Mass, beginning at 5:00 PM sharp.
Contact the Parish Office with any questions or comments, or to join one of the music groups. We depend on your participation!
